Numerical Investigation on a Twin-Screw Multiphase Pump Under low IGVF

A three-dimensional transient numerical model was developed to obtain the two-phase flow characteristics in a twin-screw multiphase pump based on dynamic mesh technology and model. The performance under different inlet gas volume fractions (IGVF) predicted by tested. Then, validated after comparing simulation experimental results. After that, field 10% IGVF analyzed. When is 10%, pressure increases step symmetrical from both ends middle of screw rotors. distribution through single working chamber uniform. It falls rapidly at tooth tip gap then drops linearly channel. At outlet gap, temporarily due high-speed jet. GVF uneven. leakage laminar liquid concentrates top gap. last connects with discharge chamber, jet causes vortices pipe. gradually moves center vortices, forming four gas-phase aggregation regions. velocity interlobe largest. maximum appears second cross-section reaches 35m/s. This research can be used improve conditions.
